Before I start rambling about where I buy my cartridges, or where I first started buying disposable shatter pens (in Canada), I wanted to say thank you for reading my blog. I’m going to try writing more content so any shares or views are motivation to keep me going.
Where to Buy Vape Shatter Pens in Canada
There are many names for these kinds of pens. One of them being shatter and the other being vape. The shatter term is kind of confusing as it’s not shatter that you’re smoking, it’s oil in liquid form, rather than a solid. While extraction methods may vary from product to product, you’ll usually get CO2 oil from these kinds of vape pens.
Next, there are 2 different kinds of pens that are used in Canada:
- Disposable vape pen
- Cartridge based vape pen
I’ll explain the differences in the next section, but I’m going to mention where you can get both of these style pens.
See, for me, I started off using the disposable pens because I didn’t know whether I was going to like vape oil pens at all. I just didn’t see the point in spending money on cartridges if I wasn’t going to appreciate it.
Luckily for me, there’s a large selection on MagnoliaWellness.ca that I was able to choose from.
They’ve got CBD vape oil pens from FeelCBD if you’re into that, but I like to actually feel my medicine working, if you catch my drift. I decided to take the plunge on the Westcoast Smoke Co. Silver Bullet 2.0 and oh my, I got so hiiiiiigh!
I’m not about to lie that I do it medicinally, I’m just trying to chill.
I was instantly hooked because I loved the idea of saving money and getting better effects than I was getting with flower.
After doing some research, I determined that I wanted to get a 510 thread vape pen. What does that mean? Without getting complicated, it’s just a type of screw basically. If you have a 510 thread pen, you can buy cartridges from various different suppliers which use a 510 thread.
Lost you yet? Basically, I bought the Magnolia house brand 510 pen and got some of their cartridges, as well as some cartridges from Pure Pulls. Afterwards, I also got some Westcoast cartridges. I interchange between those 3 brands depending on what’s in stock as I only like sativas.
I’ve had one Pure Pulls cartridge arrive broken but Magnolia compensated me and I was a happy camper.
So let me breakdown what the differences are in the next section so you can get the best vape oil solution for you.
Disposable vs. Cartridge Shatter Pen
As I’ve sort of explained in the previous section, this mainly comes down to whether you’re a beginner or a veteran when it comes to these pens.
If you’re just starting off in this field, I highly recommend that you try using a disposable vape pen first as you have less commitment. Let’s say you don’t like this way of toking. All you do is toss the pen and your investment was minimal.
Now when it comes to the cartridge based system, you’ll need to spend maybe $10-$20 more initially, you will save money on your next order because you’re spending less than you would by buying a new disposable pen all over again.
An even better positive about the cartridge systems are that you have way more selection. If you buy a Magnolia, Pure Pulls or Westcoast pen, you can use cartridges from each of those brands on each of those pens (I hope that makes sense). Basically, they’re all interchangeable.
So let’s say all the Pure Pulls sativa options are sold out, you can check Magnolia or Westcoast’s product pages to see if they’ve got any sativa strains you might be interested in. You don’t really get that with the disposable pens.
Also, I’ve heard that disposable pens tend to break more often. Well, the customer service staff from Magnolia told me that they used to carry more brands, one of them was called Evergreen, but they stopped because many batteries would die before the product inside could be used. As a result, they just carry Westcoast as they don’t seem to have this issue. I’m glad they’re at least proactive about it.
It’s important to keep in mind that if you’re looking for a CBD option, you can only purchase disposable CBD pens from FeelCBD as there aren’t any cartridge based options available at this time on the market.
At the end of the day, the choice is up to you, but I hope I was able to kind of explain what’s best for you.
Types of Vape Oil
If you’re going to experiment with various cartridges in these vape oil pens in Canada, then you should be aware of the different kinds of oil that are available:
- CO2 oil
- THC distillate
There are most types, but these are the two most popular ones so I’d rather not waste time dabbling on liquid shatter when it’s not really as good as the above options.
The reason why CO2 is fast becoming the most popular extraction method is because previous methods is because it is much cleaner. Since carbon dioxide is a naturally occurring compound is our atmosphere that we breathe in, it makes it far more attractive than using butane to extract the oil. Also, any CO2 remaining in the oil, after the extraction has been completed, will evaporate into the air, making it solvent-free. You can expect to get somewhere between 50-80% concentration with this extraction method.
When it comes to distillate, you are boiling the oil to its CBD or THC boiling points, evaporating all of the oils excess, leaving only the pure CBD or THC compounds in another container. Distillate can range from 70-90% purity.
Each method has its positives and minuses. You may be getting a slightly lesser amount of THC or CBD in CO2 oil, but you get a lot more flavour and access to more cannabinoids. Distillate, however, is likely the stronger product. Once again, the choice is yours in this regard.
Closing Thoughts
I hope that this write up can actually help someone. It took me about an hour to write but I really enjoy writing when I use sativa. I know everyone has reasons for liking indicas, but I’m more of a daytime user.
Back on topic, I really recommend checking out the link above that I posted to Magnolia Wellness. Those guys and girls have been very kind to me and their packages always arrive in 2 or 3 business days after I’ve ordered. They’ve got a whole gang of other products if you’re into them, like edibles or topicals, shatter and all that. Me, I just like my oil now.
